As you travel toward Lava Hot
Springs there are some interesting sites to see. The highway follows the Portneuf River all the way to Lava, offering beautiful views of the winding river, waterfalls, and wildlife. The Virgin Mary Mountain watches over Lava from the right side of the highway just before you enter the city. Look for the distinct VM that the trees form on the face of the mountain. Look for lava rock along the way that tells of the volcanic river that flowed down the valley from an ancient volcano in Soda Springs.
