SWIM OR SOAK: Enjoy a soothing soak in natural hot springs (Lava’s World Famous Hot Pools, Lava Hot Springs Inn, Aura Soma Lava, Riverside Hot Springs Inn, Home Hotel & Motel, or Downata Hot Springs, (near Downey), or water-park fun at the pools in Lava and Downata.
FISHING: Fishing Seminars and Maps at Trail Creek Lodge, Soda Springs. Stream, lake and ice fishing around the area. License required (available at Sunnyside Sinclair, 10124 E. Highway 30). Info from Idaho State Fish and Game at 208-232-4703 or Online. Maps and Information.
FRISBEE GOLF: The two courses– nine holes located across from the Olympic Swimming Complex and the other nine in Lions Park on the river–are always available for some disc-winging fun. It is free to play with no reservations required. Frisbees are available at several stores in Lava. View the Course Maps.

Hiking, Biking and ATV Trails: The US Forest Service Website has online Bike and ATV Trail Maps for our area. There are many unmapped trails in the area. To ride on paved roads in Lava Hot Springs and surrounding area, all ATV's and dirt bikes must have insurance, registration, and license with off road sticker on the vehicle. They must also have a rear view mirror, horn, tail light, headlight, brake light, turn signals and riders under 18 years old must wear a helmet. You cannot ride on any STATE or FEDERAL maintained roadway. County roads o.k. unless restricted by individual county, city, etc.
SKIING & SNOWBOARDING: Pebble Creek Ski Area (just north of Lava near Inkom) boasts a 2,200-foot vertical drop, 54 runs, large gladed areas, and three chairlifts. Fun, friendly, affordable!
CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING & SNOWSHOEING: Available all around the area. Snow shoe rentals and trails at Baker Ranch. Cross-country skiing is best at Pebble Creek Camp Grounds, off the Blazer Highway.
SNOWMOBILING: Tour hundreds of miles of groomed and unimproved trails in Southeast Idaho. Most unplowed forest service roads can be used by snowmobiles. Get Snowmobile Maps Online.
LOCAL PARKS: Lava has 8 great parks for fun and family reunions. No reservations needed for city parks and are on a first come-first served basis. The Lava Foundation parks require reservations. View All Lava Area Parks.
