The Olympic Swimming Complex in Lava Hot Springs is proud to be a sponsor of the upcoming National Certified Pool Operator Course, February 8th and 9th.  Successful completion of the coursework will certify individuals meet national standards in the operation and maintenance of swimming pools and spas.

The course will be taught by Mr. Gregg “Buzz” Butler of Montana.  He has taught the CPO courses in 10 western states for the National Swimming Pool Foundation.  He has a quick wit and fun personality which makes his courses educational and enjoyable.  The 2 day course provides both classroom and hands-on training.  Buzz brings a full array of equipment with him and the class will utilize the pools in Lava Hot Springs as well.

“Having the course here in Lava Hot Springs is a great cost-effective way for operators in the area to get their National Certification,” according to Mark Lowe, Executive Director of the Lava Hot Springs Foundation which operates both the Olympic Swimming Complex and Idaho’s World Famous Hot Pools.  “The last time we had staff get their national certification, they had to travel all the way to Las Vegas.  The savings in travel alone will allow us to get more of our folks certified,” he said.

The national Certification is good for five years and exceeds the requirements of the State health regulations for public swimming pools.  All public swimming pools are required to have a certified pool operator on staff.  These are the professionals that ensure that people have access to clean, healthy and inviting swimming pool facilities.

Class size is limited and seats will be taken on a first-come, first served basis.  To register contact Buzz at 406-539-5122 or at subtler_59718@yahoo.com
