Our 2024 WELLNESS FESTIVAL will be held on May 31st & June 1st.
Spring Into Wellness with Lava! This is going to be a great gathering of wellness helpers and healers. Learn from our speakers on the healing properties of our water, how sound baths help our nervous systems, or experience a class in Gyrokenisis, chair massage, meditation or another one of several other exciting wellness sessions being offered!
Diverse exhibitors, both eastern and western philosophy from Nutrition to heart health and blood pressure checks to singing bowl sound baths and drum circles. Learn about herbology, take a wellness walk, enjoy a talk about and a spin around Lava’s own labyrinth, learn about the tincture of flowers and herbs as wellness remedies, and enjoy a nutritious lunch as you listen to wellness speakers. Finish the day with a soak and stretch in the hot pools! See photos from last year on Facebook.
$50 ONLINE registration includes Friday and Saturday activities and lunch on Saturday.
$60 registration at the door if there are spaces available.

7:30: SINGING BOWLS
Presenter: Phil Dugas
Phil Dugas has been engaged in sound healing therapy for over 15 years ever since, while in India having experienced a physical injury, discovered sound bowls that healed his injury instantly. That has led to him becoming a certified sound bowl practitioner where he shares the powerful healing vibrations with others. He enjoys hosting weekly sound baths in Lava Hotsprings and works with Hospice supporting people in confronting their mortality. Along with the quartz crystal and metal sound bowls, he has incorporated the sound of gongs which all contribute to supporting the different energy centers in the body which respond to specific tone vibrations. It is an old technology that has been used for thousands of years that is making a difference in emotional, physical and spiritual healing.

Presenter: Lori Head – Owner of Mind Your Body
Lori is a retired Idaho State University professor. She currently owns and manages “Mind Your Body” health studio in Pocatello, Idaho. Lori holds certifications and teaches Yoga, Pilates, Gyrokenesis and is a Feldenkrais practitioner. She also teaches water therapy and figure skating. Lori will focus her presentation on Gyrokenesis and teach a very playful technique of movement centered around all directions of arching/contracting/twisting and lateral bending of the spine. Her class addresses flexibility and rhythm plus right and left brain work.
Gyrokenesis methods can be adapted to all ages and levels of ability. It is designed to open energy pathways and stimulate the nervous system by coordinating movement, breath and mental focus. Learn more about Gyrokinesis.

Presenter: George Katsilometes
Owner for 33 Years of the Lava Hot Springs Inn & Spa. Higher education degrees: A.B.-Zoology, University of California, Berkeley, CA; D.V.M., Washington State University, Pullman, WA; Ph.D.-Endocrinology, University of California, Davis, CA.
Mr. Katsilometes has had the waters arising on the properties of the Lava Hot Springs Inn & Spa analyzed and has documented the beneficial effects of each of the major minerals contained in these waters. He has stated the mineral water of Lava is some of the finest in the world and is so pure it can be consumed without treatment as it flows from the earth.

Phil Shepherd is a born-and-raised southeast Idahoan and he feels lucky to live in one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Phil discovered his love for aromatherapy about 15 years ago and was excited to find a great way to support his mental, physical and emotional wellbeing through aromatherapy.
Phil has been studying and practicing aromatherapy professionally for the last 8 years at Time Laboratories in Pocatello, Idaho. He works managing their Phyto-Aromatherapy Shoppe and Wellness Center.
Phil is passionate about helping the average consumer learn how to find high-quality products and enjoys teaching about the safe and effective use of essential oils.
As a long-time member of the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy, Phil has attended several World of Aromatherapy conferences where he has been able to meet and learn from some of the global leaders in the field of Aromatherapy.

They are representing the local Shoshone-Bannock tribes and will be speaking on what the healing waters and valley we know as Lava Hot Springs means to their people. Learn about Poha-Ba, Land of Healing Waters at the South Bannock County Historical Center Museum in Lava Hot Springs.
2:30 PM – 3:00 PM: Psychosocial Wellness of Mind, Body and Spirit
Presenter: Hailey N. Martinez, Ph.D., LCPC (ID), CMHC (UT), ACS
Dr. Martinez is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), a registered site supervisor in the state of Idaho, as well as nationally credentialed as an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS). She has a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Counseling and teaches full-time in Counselor Education. She provides Telemental Health Counseling services for people located anywhere in the state of Idaho, as well as in-person equine therapy and equine-assisted learning services at her farm in Southeast Idaho.

Presenter: Midge Woods
A discussion of products being promoted to help elevate levels of health, wellness and vitality. Midge is a Spiritual Entrepreneur and Marketing Director for LIFEWAVE Stem Cell Activation Technology.
She has traveled extensively as a speaker, presenter and vendor at Energy Healing Conferences in Idaho, Utah and Arizona for over 30 years. Midge has traveled internationally to attend educational and spiritual conferences. In addition to being a presenter for LIFEWAVE, she will lead the group through the ancient practice of walking the labyrinth for spiritual centering and quieting the mind.

Pilates Practitioner, Dance Educator, and Choreographer Susan Babcock has been inspiring people to move for a LONG time! She is proud to have finished her Pilates certification with Lolita San Miguel, one of the last living Elders of Joseph Pilates’ method. Her extensive experience in “body movement” has been influential to the young and the seasoned from Austin, to Orcas Island, to Atlanta, and now to Pocatello. In her fully equipped private studio in Old Town, she offers affordable Pilates sessions to enhance more functional daily movement, focusing on the client’s needs while staying true to the classical method of Joseph Pilates.

$25 registration fee. Includes lunch at no additional charge.
Registration includes one all access pass to participate in the activities at the Wellness Festival. All forms must be received by May 1st, 2024. Cancellation must be received in writing by May 10th, 2024, in order to be eligible to receive a refund of the registration fee. Registration fees are non-refundable after May 10st, 2024.
The Vendor agrees to have their booth set up by 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 at the location specified on the approval/acceptance letter sent from the Lava Chamber of Commerce to the Vendor. Check with the Lava Chamber of Commerce to inquire about any available “early” set-up time. The Vendor is required to provide their own pop-up cover, (if needed) (maximum 10ft x 10ft) a table or display structures for the items they are selling and any chairs or equipment they may want to use. Electricity is not provided for vendors at the event and WIFI service is not available at the location of the vendor area. More details & rules are in the form.
